A woman was swallowed by a SINKHOLE while hanging out her washing and had to be rescued by firefighters. Mother-of-six Christina Beaumont, 52, was in her back garden in Melbourne, Australia when the three-metre deep sinkhole opened up beneath her and submerged her in water. She was forced to tread water for 20 minutes until a neighbour's husband heard her cries for help and called the fire brigade - who rescued her with ropes.
